What is a DC-DC charger? What is its purpose?
The DC-DC battery charger is installed between the starter battery and the house battery. For the RV system, the alternator ensures stable power supply to the starter battery, and uses the extra power of the starter battery to supply power to the house battery.
How do I choose a suitable battery charger?
Make sure that the entire system is a 12V system. Ensure that the maximum charging current provided by the DC-DC battery charger does not exceed the maximum charging current allowed by the house battery Generally speaking, we recommend that the specification of the alternator is at least 1.5 times the specification of the charger.
How do I set the charging voltage value of the charger?
The DC-DC battery charger adopts the design of the DIP switch to meet the requirements of lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries through five gears. SW5 switch is the selection switch for switching between lead-acid batteries and lithium batteries. For more information, please refer to the manual.
What is the D+ ignition cable?
The D+ ignition cable is a design method used to identify whether the alternator is started. This design can well prevent the starter battery from being over-discharged during the charging process. When the alternator is started, a signal will be obtained through the D+ ignition cable, which will light up the power indicator of the charger.
Is it necessary to connect the D+ wire?
The DC-DC battery charger will not power on or operate until the D+ ignition cable is connected.
What is the function of the LC Current Limit Wiring?
When the LC terminal is connected to a 12V power source, the output current of the charger will be limited to half of its rated specification. Typically you can connect this cable when the battery cannot handle the rated current or when the alternator specification is too small to maintain the starter battery power.
What gauge wire is needed for the D+ and LC wires?
We recommend using 18-16AWG copper wire as the connection wire for the LC terminal and D+ terminal to a 12V power source.
Is the DC-DC battery charger waterproof?
This charger has an IP20 waterproof rating, so it is not waterproof.
Does the DC-DC battery charger support reverse charging?
This charger does not support reverse charging from the house battery to the starter battery.
Does the DC-DC battery charger have isolation function?
Yes, this charger has isolation function.
What are the terminal specifications of the DC-DC battery charger?
M6 x 10mm.
What battery types are this charger suitable for?
This charger is compatible with a variety of battery types, including AGM, Flooded, Gel, and Lithium batteries, providing proper charging for each type.
If I want to add a switch to the D+ line, how should I choose the specification of the circuit breaker?
Since the D+ line only samples voltage and does not carry current, you can choose the minimum specification of the circuit breaker to meet the requirement.
What is the self-consumption of this charger?
The self-consumption is<0.4A.
