The Lycan 5000 Power Box is a 120V 50hz/60hz power design and can only suit the power range of the United States and Canada.
What is Lycan 5000 Power Box?
The Renogy LYCAN 5000 Power Box is an all-in-one energy storage system specially designed for emergencies, power outages, and off-grid homes. You can charge the Lycan 5000 by solar panels, generators, and wall outlet.
How much power does the Lycan 5000 Power Box can supply?
Lycan 5000 Power Box can provide a 4.8kWh capacity and can be easily expanded to up to 19.2KWh with Renogy 48V 50Ah Smart Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries. 3500W pure sine wave AC output and peak power up to 7000W, you can easily power most heavy-duty appliances at home, outdoors, or at work.
Is the Lycan 5000 Power Box comes with batteries? Do I need to purchase batteries separately?
Lycan 5000 Power Box comes with 2 built-in batteries. There is no need to purchase additional batteries unless you want to increase the number of batteries.
What is the maximum power of solar modules that can be connected to the Lycan and what conditions need to be met?
The maximum solar input power that Lycan can support is 4400W. The following needs to be met.
- PV Open-circuit voltage: 60V-145V.
- Total of 2 inputs, short-circuit current not exceeding 21A per circuit.
- Solar panels are of the same brand and model.
- The voltage of Solar input 1 and Solar input 2 should be the same.
What are the specifications and models of the 20A and 30A AC output sockets and what kind of plugs are required for each, and does Renogy offer them?
Renogy does not provide plugs. The models for the 20A and 30A output sockets are NEMA 5-20R and TT-30R, respectively. The 20A output sockets can be adapted to plug types NEMA 5-20P and NEMA 5-15P. The 30A output socket can be adapted to plug type TT-30P. The graphic instructions are illustrated with. 


Can I use the Lycan 5000 Power Box as a UPS?
Yes. Installing the auto/manual transfer switch by a qualified licensed electrician will be able to wire in a dedicated circuit to connect your LYCAN to the building's main switchboard to keep your family away from power outages.
Does Lycan support split phase output and 240V output?
Lycan only supports 120V output, it does not support split phase output and 240V output. We are currently working on and will implemented split phase output and 240VAC output in subsequent versions.
Can I pair my Renogy ONE with the Lycan?
Please make sure:
- Renogy ONE's system is the most up-to-date version (Settings > System > About > Check for Updates)
- The DC Home APP is the most up-to-date version, too.
- Unplug either of the Ethernet cables connected to the SECONDARY ports of the Communication Hub of Lycan. (Now only one Ethernet cable is connected to the SECONDARY port.)
- Connect Renogy ONE and the Communication Hub (PRIMARY port) of Lycan with an Ethernet cable.
- On Renogy ONE, Go to Devices > Add Devices. A new device (Lycan's inverter or battery) will be found automatically. Add it to Renogy ONE.
- Unplug the Ethernet cable from the SECONDARY port of the Communication Hub, and plug the other Ethernet cable back into the SECONDARY port.
- On Renogy ONE, Go to Devices > Add Devices. Another new device (Lycan's battery or inverter) will be found automatically. Add it to Renogy ONE.
- Plug the other Ethernet cable back into the SECONDARY port of the Communication Hub. Now two Ethernet cables are connected to the SECONDARY ports.)
- Both of the Inverter and Battery will be online on Renogy ONE.
Is it possible to connect Lycan to a customer's existing monitoring system via Modbus communication protocol?
Yes, all that is required is for the customer is to sign an non-disclosure agreement with us. Once the sign document is send to us, we can make Lycan's Open API available to the customer. The NDA file link.
What is the IP (Ingress Protection) rating of Lycan and what do I need to be aware of when using it outdoors?
Lycan has a waterproof rating of IP55. Its bottom height from the ground is 10.5cm, so there’s a care needs to be taken that when used on a floor with standing water, the depth of standing water must not exceed 5cm.
Is the new Lycan charged up upon receipt and is it ready for immediate use?
The Lycan has a certain amount of power stored inside and it is recommended to fully charge it before putting it into use after receiving it.
What are Lycan's operating and storage temperatures and how does Lycan cope with low temperatures?
The Lycan stores at 0-40 ℃ and operates at -10-50 ℃. The Lycan has an internal battery with self-heating function for low temperature environments.
What do I need to be aware of when plugging extra batteries into the Lycan?
It is necessary to ensure that the voltage of the extra batteries is the same or close to the voltage of the batteries inside the Lycan to avoid problems of unbalanced battery voltage.
What is the fastest charging method for the Lycan 5000 Power Box?
Connecting LYCAN to both 4400W solar panels and AC outlets can further shorten the charging time to 1 hour from 0% to 80%.
